Who Will Love Them if We Don't?

Today’s Headlines:

“Three Dead Fourteen Wounded.”

“Mudslide Death Toll Rises to 30”

“Dad Convicted of Killing Daughter.”

“Children Live, Parents Died In Crash.”

“22% US Children Live in Poverty.”

Who will love them if we don’t?

Neighbor News:  53% marriages end in divorce.  41% of us will be diagnosed with cancer.  Most children will be born out of wedlock by 2016.  Over half of teen-age Face Book users are lonely in real life.  Depression and closet alcoholism plague rising numbers of American women. 70% of Americans hate their jobs.   Pornography is a $12 Billon US business that the evil one is using to erode male integrity.

Who will love them if we don’t?

I will never forget 4 year old Jacob standing next to me while I was reading the paper. “I love you daddy.”   “I love you too Jacob” and I kept on reading.  “I love you daddy.” “I love you too Jacob. Let daddy finish reading the paper.”   “I love you daddy and I am going to do something about it.”  Jacob then jumped up and through my open paper throwing his arms around my neck squeezing tight.  “I love you daddy.”

For the past five weeks we have been studying and praying about God’s love. For the past 30 days we have engaged in reading, journaling and discussing what it means to love others, to forgive others, to reach out to others, to love others as God loves us.

It is time to do something about it.

Are you building relationships with people who are not like you? Are you getting to know the story of the clerk, the UPS driver, the new family in your neighborhood?  What about the friend who sits alone at lunch or the person sharing the same hospital waiting room, do you know their name?

“This is how we know what love is. Jesus Christ laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”  I John 3:16

It is time to do something about it.

Who have you invited to the Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Services? Where are you serving? Are you praying for people you know who are lost? Are you praying for how you can participate in the expansion of our facility to make room for everyone God is leading into our midst? Are you praying for our rebranding efforts so you are ready to embrace the new name and help us fulfill  the mission God has placed upon us to reach the lost and make disciples?

Who will love them if we don’t? It is time to do something about it.

I’m all in. Are you?
